Head Coach: Dawn Ommen
Coach Ommen begins her first year at the helm of the Grace Royals. Prior to coming to Grace she was an assistant coach at the University of North Florida and the University of Nebraska-Kearney. Her coaching duties included recruiting coordinator, strength and conditioning, guard play, and scouting. Her background includes a strength and conditioning internship at the United State Olympic Training Center. Coach Ommen played collegiately at Kansas State University.
Coach Ommen came to know the Lord through the Fellowship of Christian Athletes in high school. She has been very active in FCA throughout her high school, college, and coaching years.
The excitement Coach Ommen has about building a program at Grace is evident. "I don't think you can beat what Grace offers both in the classroom and athletically. You are not a number here at Grace. THere is a lot of personal involvement with each and every student. In addition, with the new gymnasium opening this year we have an athletic facility that is second to none."
Basketball has played a big role in Coach Ommen's life. "Playing on a team presents a microcosm of the issues that you deal with in the real world. The goal is not just to teach basketball to these girls but to teach and experience real life lessons that they will use long after their collegiate basketball career is over."
Coach OMmen is a physical therapist and personal trainer with Professional Veterinary Products. In addition, she has her own personal training business, Fit At Home. She is married to Kevin Ommen and they reside in Papillion. Basketball runs in the family as her brother Scott is an assistant women's basketball coach at the University of North Texas. In her spare time Coach Ommen likes to lift weights, run, water-ski, snow-ski, and play tennis.
