Grace University faces one of their toughest opponents with the local NAIA team, Peru State. Peru, having just come off a strong win again Dana, had a tough road ahead of them Tuesday night. Grace University brought a large and very loud crowd to the gym lead by a group of guys with royal blue painted bodies. Grace University started off strong, confidently winning there first game. Losing some momentum Grace struggled in their second match but regained composure for the third game. The fourth game was the toughest for the lady Royals. It was apparent throughout the game and at the end of the game that Grace had lost momentum and was struggling to find their rhythm. Going in the last game the Lady Royals looked like they had lost their focus. Peru state went ahead 6-2. After a few more serves the momentum had not changed and the outlook was looking grim for the Royals with a score of 9-12. After a time out the Lady Royals came out with a vengeance looking like a brand new team, scoring 3 in a row. The score went back and forth for the winning point, although it seemed like Grace had the momentum advantage throughout the final points. Grace University won a strong and confidence building match again Peru State, winning their last game 18-16.
Sheresa had 54 set assists and 3 aces. Courtney had 7 kills and 17 digs. Becky brought 9 kills and 14 digs. Mary dominated with 34 kills, 10 digs, and 3 aces. Mary Harder was an "Unstoppable Force" on GU's front line causing trouble for Peru State blockers. Sara Meckle contributed at a very key point in the 5th game, bringing some very needed strong digs and adding some crucial points. The Lady Royals had a 92% attack percentage. Grace University travels to Dallas, TX this weekend.
