Women’s Soccer: Royals Lose to Stephens College 1-2 in Overtime

OMAHA, NEBRASKA: The Grace University women's soccer team hosted the Stephens College Stars on Friday, Sept. 1, and lost 1-2 in overtime. 

The Royals, led by head coach Richard Locke, played a tough game against the Stars.  Neither team scored until the second half when Stephens scored their first goal with 25 minutes left.  The Royals responded with a goal of their own eleven minutes later with a shot from Aubrey Raymond from the 35-yard line.  At the end of regulation, the game was tied at 1 and went into overtime.  The Stars scored 5 minutes into overtime to win the game. 

In the first half, the Royals shot the ball 9 times while the Stars shot the ball 4 times.  Both teams shot 6 times in the second half.  Grace shot once in overtime and Stephens shot twice.  Grace's goalie, freshman Kallie Gibson, saved 6 shots. 

UP NEXT: The Royals will host the York College Panthers on Saturday, Sept. 2, at Berquist Stadium at 7 p.m.
