Everything in life takes hard work including sports. The Grace University Women’s Basketball program works hard to develop a good work ethic in each of the young women that participate. In the classrooms, the athletes are expected to work hard and study so that they can develop skills that will pay off later in life.  As they prepare to compete in the NCCAA,  the athletes are pushed to work hard on the court as well. Each athlete knows that it takes hard work to reach the next level and here at Grace, we believe that hard work pays off whether on the court or life in general.  The Women’s Basketball program is one you can get behind.

Shawn Kliewer

Shawn Kliewer will begin his third season as the Grace Women’s head coach.  Coming off a trip to the National Tournament last year, he is excited start another season with the goal of getting back to the National Tournament and make a run at the Championship.

Shawn’s basketball background includes playing four years at Grace University (00-03), assistant coach for the Grace Men’s program in 2004 and one year playing professionally overseas in Germany.

Basketball is something that Shawn has always loved and he has studied the game as much as he has played it.  With a particular detail for fundamentals, Shawn loves teaching the game and showing people how to most effectively play.

Coach Kliewer is looking for dedicated players who are coachable and hard working.  He requires his players to go 100% whenever they are on the basketball court whether it is in practice or games.  Players are expected to use intensity, hard work, and the fundamentals of basketball to come together as a team and play to their full potential.  A player who is willing to leave everything on the floor after 40 minutes will fit in with the Royals basketball team.

Showing improvement over the last two years the Royals feel like this is their year to put together a complete season, ending with a Championship trophy.
